The HOBIE SAN ONOFRE CLASSIC is an informal, fun, vintage surfing competition, paddle race, and Menehune contest. All contestants must ride vintage longboards at least nine feet in length, manufactured prior to 1970, except the Menehunes will ride modern longboards.

The pre event party is Friday, May 6 at Hobie Sports, Dana Point. heats will be posted at the party.

THE ENTRY FEE IS $ 70.

There are 3 divisions on Saturday, May 7.

  • Senior Men's 36-49
  • Geezers 50 and over
  • Women's Open

There are five divisions on Sunday, May 8.

  • Men's Under 36
  • Menehune Boys 12 & Under
  • Menehune Girls 12 & Under
  • Menehune Boys 13 & 14
  • Menehune Girls 13 & 14

Admission to San Onofre State Park Surf beach is $10.00

Directions:

Exit the 5 freeway at Basilone road.
Go towards the ocean.
Go to the SURF BEACH sign and turn right.
Go past the stop sign to the Ranger Kiosk.
Be prepared to wait in line if you don’t get there when the gate opens.

Parking is very limited.
There are no food concession.
There are outside showers.
There are inside toilets.
Bring drinking water, shade and sun screen.
Come prepared to spend the day.
